Enhancing the recreation ground

What is happening to the recreation ground?

We are aware that there has been some confusion locally about what the future holds for the recreation ground, and we want to set the record straight. The Ashburton Road development is committed to enhancing our community, and the recreation ground is a vital part of that.

We understand the importance of this green space for leisure, exercise, and wellbeing. We’re excited to unveil some exciting improvements that will benefit everyone who enjoys this valuable area, alongside a dedicated solution for a long-standing concern at the nearby primary school.

Proposed enhancements

Improvements to the recreation ground

Our plans include several enhancements to the recreation ground, designed to make it an even more enjoyable space for the community to use. We are exploring a number of options, including new play equipment, upgraded footpaths and benches, and extra areas of planting.

We would like to hear from the community in terms of what sort of enhancements you would like to see. You can let us know by visiting our Have your say page.

A new school car park

Improving safety during pick-up and drop-off

In addition to the range of enhancements we are looking to deliver on the recreation ground, we are also looking to provide a new parking area for Hugglescote Community Primary School. We will be discussing these plans in detail with the school and North West Leicestershire District Council, but we feel like this provides a big opportunity to address the long-standing challenge of pick-up and drop-off congestion and create a safer environment for everyone.
